Biodegradable film was developed based on cassava starch, plasticizers and natural ingredients for potential use as packaging for food or decorative products. The use of these materials can be minimize the environment impact caused by traditional polymeric materials.
The patented film also can be used as active packaging, since it is possible to add antimicrobial ingredients. It was applied successfully against fungi present in bread.
